GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah men's lacrosse team built a 10-4 lead after three quarters of play and cruised to a 14-10 victory over the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen on Saturday afternoon. The victory gave the Falcons a key MAC Commonwealth victory with just two games remaining in the regular season.
Seth Libby led the Falcons' offense with four goals while
Owen Joyce also finished with five points on two goals and three assists.
With the win, Messiah improves to 3-3 in the MAC Commonwealth play and are right in the thick of the Conference Tournament picture. Messiah will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Hood Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on the Lacrosse Turf.
First Half
Messiah jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter and continued to lead all game. LVC struck first but Messiah rattled off four straight goals from Branson, Mellor (2) and Libby to make it 4-1 headed into the second quarter. LVC would score first again in the second quarter but Mellor would add his third goal of the game . The Dutchmen woudl tack on another to make the score 5-3 going into halftime.
Second Half
After an LVC goal in the third quarter, Messiah scored five straight goals to take an 11-4 lead early into the fourth quarter. After a couple more goals, Messiah held a 12-7 lead before
Aaron Shaw tacked on two goals to make the game 14-7. Messiah would hold on to win 14-10 on senior day.

Seth Libby led the team in goals with four, while
RJ Mellor had three.
Aaron Shaw,
Nathan Branson and
Owen Joyce each scored twice while Sam Ston scored once.
Corum McCuller led the team in ground balls with six while
Frank Honey had five.
