ST. DAVID'S, PA - The men's tennis team won all nine courts in a 9-0 decision against Eastern with three matches going to a third set 10-point tiebreak. They will travel to Stevenson on Wednesday for the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals.
Doubles
The Falcons swept the doubles easily on Saturday afternoon, dropping four total games across the three matches. Wilson/Rose won 8-2 on court one while E.Martin/Niemi won their match on court two 8-0. Gingerich and
Andrew Stapp won the third doubles court for the Falcons 8-2, to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
Singles
Messiah had little trouble on courts one, five and six, winning in straight sets. Wilson continued his dominant run at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 while
Ellis Martin won 6-0, 6-0 on court five.
Michael Niemi won 6-1, 6-3 on court six to give the Falcons a commanding lead. On courts two, three and four, it was a different story with each match going to a decisive third set 10-point tiebreak to decide a winner. The Falcons prevailed in all of them, giving them the 9-0 sweep of Eastern. Rose won 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 on court two, Sell won 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 on court three and Gingerich won 6-2, 3-6, 10-1 on court four.

The win brings the Falcons overall record to 8-10 and gives them a 5-2 conference record, earning them the third seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Messiah will travel to Owings Mills, Md. to face the Stevenson Mustangs on Wednesday May 4, at a time to be determined.
