ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its 2022 All-MAC Commonwealth Men's Lacrosse Team on Wednesday morning as three Falcons received recognition. Following their impressive 2022 campaigns,
Aaron Shaw (Second Team),
Kyle Anderson (Second Team), and
RJ Mellor (Honorable Mention) were all recognized as All-MAC Commonwealth members.
The trio of Falcons all earn their first all-conference recognition, helping Messiah to its first appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament since the 2019 season.
Shaw tallied 27 goals and dished out seven assists throughout the season, totaling 34 points. The junior midfielder had 10 multi-goal games, including a season-high four goals in a road win at Albright (Mar. 30). Shaw made notable defensive contributions as well, recording three caused turnovers while scooping up 22 ground balls. The Burnsville, Minn. native had a breakout junior year campaign upping his goals total from last year by 24 tallies.
Anderson found himself on the All-MAC Commonwealth Second Team as well after making lasting contributions defensively. The senior defender started all 18 games for the Falcons, totaling 33 and 17 caused turnovers. Anderson recorded five games in which he caused multiple turnovers, including three contests where he registered three caused turnovers.
Mellor had a strong season as well, scoring 33 goals to be named as an Honorable Mention. The sophomore midfielder/attacker also dished out 17 assists to total 50 points on the season, registering 11 multi-goal performances. Mellor had a stretch of seven-consecutive contests of recording multiple goals, including a career-high four goals in a road victory at Chatham University (Mar. 5).
The three Falcons become the first men's lacrosse trio to earn All-MAC honors since the 2019 season.
