LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its DIII All-Region teams on Monday afternoon as senior pitcher Madison Walter was honored with a Region V First Team accolade. Walter claims her second NFCA All-Region honor after being named to last year's Second Team.

Walter, who was named MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Year and also receiving an all-MAC First Team nod, led the conference in ERA (1.11), innings pitched (157.0), strikeouts (181), wins (16), opponent batting average (.193), and tied for complete games (20). The senior pitcher had a tremendous season, earning her second All-MAC accolade of her career.

Durability was a strong component of Walter's successful season, totaling a career-high 157.0 innings pitched. Walter went the distance in 20 different contests, including two 10-inning contests in which the Falcons edged out one-run victories. The senior pitcher allowed just 25 earned runs across those 157 innings, pitching six shutouts while earning a career-high 181 strikeouts.

Walter shined in postseason play, pitching 17 innings in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament, including a career-high 15-strikeout performance opposite Stevenson University. The contest was a 10-inning affair in which Walter pitched all 10 frames. In the NCAA Regionals at Christopher Newport University, the senior pitcher appeared in all four contests, totaling 19.0 innings pitched while striking out 30 batters. Walter registered 10 strikeouts in just four innings pitched in a 3-0 win against Hunter College last Friday.

Walter earned 16 wins in the circle as the Messiah softball team wrapped up its season with a 29-15 (11-5 MAC Commonwealth), clinching its 11th conference championship in program history.
