GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Thursday afternoon, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their NCAA Division III At-Large Academic All-District teams for the 2021-22 academic year. Among the honorees was Messiah's standout men's volleyball player, Mason Nissley. Previously, Nissley was honored as the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year from the At-Large category, earning Academic All-District honors as well.

The Academic All-District honor is the second of Nissley's career after he was previously named to the First Team last year. His honors come in the At-Large category that encompasses all sports outside of soccer, football, basketball, baseball, and track & field.

Mason Nissley dominated defenses all season long from the outside hitter position averaging 4.87 kills per set on the season, the top mark in the conference and third in Division III volleyball. He collected a total of 331 kills across 68 sets played while hitting at a .324 clip. While his kills were down slightly from last season (370 in 65 sets in 2021), Nissley hit 24 points higher in 2022. He also collected 47 service aces and 81 digs this season. His 0.69 aces per set are the 11th most in the country this season. This season, Nissley played at least two sets in 20 different matches. In all 20 of those matches, Nissley collected double-digit kills going for a season-high 27 kills in a five-set loss against Stevens on Apr. 2.

In the classroom, Nissley has been even better than on the court. The junior carries a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as a finance major.

By way of his First Team Academic All-District honor, Nissley is eligible for Academic All-American honors that will be announced later this summer.
