NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced their 2022 Division III All-American teams on Thursday evening. Among the honorees was Messiah's
Rachel Delate, who was named to the IWLCA's Third Team, earning her second-straight All-American honor in the process.
The honor comes just a week after Delate was named First Team All-Region by the IWLCA.
Delate was named a First Team All-American following the 2021 season as an attacker. This year, Delate put together another great campaign with a team and conference-high 67 goals. She finished the season with 90 total points, dishing out 23 assists. She averaged 4.74 points per game while scoring a season-high nine points against Alvernia on Apr. 6 with six goals and three assists. On 12 occasions, Delate netted at least four goals, scoring her season-high of six four different times. Delate was also strong on the draw control, winning 47 draws on the season. She also caused 13 turnovers and picked up 20 ground balls.
In addition to her Third Team All-American honor, Delate was named First Team All-Region, and First Team All-MAC Commonwealth.
The All-American nod is the 19th-ever honor for a Messiah women's lacrosse player. Delate becomes the third Falcon to earn multiple All-American honors joining midfielder Stephanie Athens (2016, 2017) and goalie Alexa Dipeso (2015, 2017). Delate is the first Messiah attacker to garner multiple All-American honors in her career.
Delate Named All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine
In addition to her IWLCA All-American nod, Delate was named a First Team All-American from USA Lacrosse Magazine this season. Last season, Delate was honored on the USA Lacrosse Magazine last season as well, earning First Team accolades.
