Women’s Tennis Season Comes to a Close with a 5-0 Defeat to No. 1 LVC

ANNVILLE, PA - The Messiah women's tennis season came to a close this afternoon after they fell to the No. 1 seeded Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen 5-0.  The Falcons played well across all the singles matches but fell short in the match. LVC will face York College on Saturday, May 7 for the MAC Championship.

Doubles
The Dutchmen wasted no time in doubles, cruising to two convincing wins on courts one and three, winning 8-0 and 8-1. On court two, the team of Marcroft/Sheaffer played a close match throughout and fought back from a 4-7 deficit to make the pro-set 6-7, but LVC closed it out winning 8-6 to seal the sweep in doubles play.

Singles
Only needing two courts to clinch the match, LVC won courts one and two to win the match 5-0. Conjack lost 0-6, 4-6 on court one while Marcroft lost 3-6, 0-6. None of the other courts were able to be finished. Sheaffer dropped the first set 3-6 and was down 2-4 in the second set on court three while Tozzi lost her first set 4-6 and was down 0-3 in the second set. On court five, Lee dropped her first set 4-6 and were tied at 1-1 in the second set while Fleming on court six fell 5-7 in her first set and was down 0-1 in the second set.

Going Forward
The Falcons overall record stands at 6-12 as their 2022 spring campaign comes to a close. Look for a lot of underclassmen to take on expanded roles next season, as Messiah graduates four seniors from this team.
