EWING, NJ - The No. 10 Messiah field hockey team scored two times in the fourth quarter to earn a 3-2 victory over the No. 11 The College of New Jersey Lions on Saturday afternoon. Tallies from Malcolm, Seubert and Smith gave the Falcons the narrow one goal advantage and the win on the afternoon.Â
The Falcons will host the Hood College Blazers at 7:00 PM on Anderson Turf in Grantham, Pa.Â

The teams were even in the first 30 minutes with the Lions being the only team able to get on the board. The Lions held a 1-0 lead at the half, thanks to a goal in the final minute before the break. The Falcons countered with a penalty corner goal early in the third quarter by
Makayla Malcolm before scoring twice in the fourth quarter. The game remained tie at one apiece until
Lauren Seubert converted a penalty stoke goal with just over 10 minutes left in the contest to put the Falcons ahead 2-1.Â
Ashlyn Smith added some insurance three minutes later with her fourth goal of the year to make the game 3-1 in favor of the Falcons.Â
TCNJ did score a penalty stroke goal in the final minutes, but it was the Falcons that earned a solid ranked victory by a 3-2 final score.
Messiah held a 23-7 advantage in total shots while outcornering the Lions 22-10 in the contest.

The Falcons improve to 4-2 on the season and will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Hood Blazers at 7:00 p.m. on Anderson Field.
