Falcons Prevail Despite Grittiness from Golden Wolves

GRANTHAM, PA. - The Falcons were able to withstand multiple comeback attempts from the Golden Wolves but prevailed to earn their sixth conference win 56-48 over Alvernia. Reese Harden had a team high 12 points while Chloe Milanesi added 15 boards on the evening.

The Falcons will host Lebanon Valley this Saturday on Jan. 14 at 4:00 PM in Grantham, Pa.

Action
It was Messiah who came out of the gates strong opening up an 8-0 lead to prompt an Alvernia timeout. The Golden Wolves answered out of the timeout going on a 7-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to one. After one quarter of play, the Falcons led 15-13.

The second quarter was relatively even as when Messiah would score, Alvernia would have an answer. The Falcons held a 26-24 lead before going on a 7-0 run to go ahead 33-24 with under a minute to go. Messiah would take a 35-27 lead into the break.

In a low scoring third quarter, Messiah used a 7-0 run to take a commanding 42-27 lead. But as Alvernia had previously, they had an answer ending the quarter on a 9-3 run to cut the score to 45-36 as they teams headed into the final quarter of play.

Messiah had another double digit lead trimmed to nine point advantage with two and half minutes remaining in the game. The Golden Wolves found themselves within five with under a minute to go. The Falcons prevailed to keep their perfect conference mark alive with a 56-48 win.

Stats
Reese Harden had a team high 12 points while Faith Grula added ten points on the night. Chloe Milanesi had a team high 15 rebounds. The Falcons shot 40% from the floor and 40% from beyond the arc.

The win brings the Falcons record to 13-2 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the conference. The Falcons will host the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4:00 PM on Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena for their next conference tilt.
