Two Falcons Honored with Conference Weekly Award

ANNVILLE, Pa - On Monday afternoon, two Messiah student-athletes were honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) with their performances for the week ending on Oct. 15, 2023. Earning this week's honors were Teagan Murrie for field hockey and Caitlin Lielbriedis for volleyball.
 
Teagan Murrie – MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Teagan Murrie led the Falcons offense with two goals in Messiah's two wins on the week. In the 8-1 win over Stevenson, Murrie scored the second goal of the game for the Falcons that propelled the Messiah offense. In the 2-0 win over Widener on Saturday, the Messiah offense struggles to put the ball into the ball of the goal. Teagan Murrie broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute to score the game winning goal and prevent a potential upset from the Pride. Murrie's presence was felt all over on the offensive end with eight shots, with five of those shots on goal.
 
Caitlin Lielbriedis – MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Caitlin Lielbriedis put together a great defensive week for the Falcons. Lielbriedis totaled 42 digs in the Falcons three matches on the week. in the loss to Eastern, she tallied 20 digs and gave the Falcons a chance to make a play on each attack by the Eagles. Lielbriedis continued to shine on the defensive end on Saturday. In the win over New Jersey City, she totaled 12 digs. Lielbriedis continued her great play with 10 more digs in the Falcons win over Misericordia.
