GRANTHAM, Pa - The Messiah women's volleyball team defeated conference opponent Albright College, Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons took down the Lions in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-14) with the win the Falcons improved to 19-6 with just three games remaining in the regular season. 

How It Happened
The Falcons got out early and never let up. Before the Lions knew what hit them, the Falcons were up 7-1. Albright would creep back into the set cutting the lead to 12-8 heading into the midway point. After a couple kills from Chayney Barnhart, Anna Weldon, Katie Quesenberry, along with multiple Maddy Eby aces later, Messiah found themselves extending their lead to 18-9. Messiah would handle the rest of the set holding the Lions to 15 total points to take set one 25-15.

Heading into set two the Lions would yet again find themselves down 7-3 early. However, Albright showed grit and would begin to rally throughout the match, never allowing the Falcons to take control of the set. Heading into the midway point the Falcons were up 15-11.  Hart, Barnhart, and Weldon would continue to dominate at the net. Messiah would prevail late despite the Lions cutting the lead to 22-18, Caitlin Lielbriedis, and Weldon would finish off the set with multiple kills, winning set two 25-20 to take a 2-0 match lead.

The Falcons would finish off the Lions in dominant fashion, holding Albright to just 14 points. Receiving stellar defense from Eby and Lielbriedis, and a strong outing at the net from Hart, and Barnhart Messiah would take set three 25-14. The third set would include one five point run, one four point run, along with two three point runs in what would be their most impressive set of the night. Lielbriedis, Dell, and Hart would finish the night tied with eight kills, while Emma Swartz picked up 21 assists.

The Falcons moved to 19-6 on the season, and 4-2 in the conference. Messiah will be on the road Friday Oct. 27 to face Franklin & Marshall at 7:00 p.m.
