Strong Offensive Performances Lead No. 21 Women’s Basketball in Season Opener

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University women's basketball team had four players in double figures that led them to a 70-47 win over Delaware Valley in the 2023 Messiah Tip-Off Tournament.  Chloe Milanesi and Kiara Bomboy combined for 27 points the first half. Reese Harden and Morgan Adams caught fire in the second half. Harden scored all 14 of her points in the second half and Adams added in 10.
 
Up next, the Falcons take on the Lions of TCNJ in the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament Championship game at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow in Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena.

First Quarter
The Falcons opened the game with an early 9-2 run. Chloe Milanesi started the game with seven of the Falcons first nine points. The Aggies responded with a 10-0 run of their own to take a 12-9 lead with 4:29 remaining. The Falcons though controlled the final four minutes with a 12-3 run to end the quarter, led by two threes from Kiara Bomboy
 
Second Quarter
The two teams traded baskets to open the second quarter, but the Falcons went on a 9-0 run to push their lead up to 34-22 with 4:30 remaining in the half that was started by a Sydney Hoffman layup. After a couple buckets from the Aggies and another Chloe Milanesi jumper, the Falcons led the Aggies 39-30 at the half.
 
Third Quarter
After a slow start offensively, Reese Harden started the second-half strong with the first six points for the Falcons. The Falcons continued to extend their lead outscoring the Aggies 17-11 in the quarter to lead 56-41 at the end of the third. Harden and Morgan Adams scored 15 of the Falcons 17 points in the quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Falcons once again started a quarter strong with a 7-2 run to open the quarter. An Aggie bucket cut the run, but then the two teams defenses stepped up to prevent any bucket for two minutes. After the scoreless stretch the Falcons finished the game on another 7-2 run that was capped off by a bucket from Reese Harden to put the final score at 70-47.
 
Stats
Chloe Milansei led the Falcons with 18 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Reese Harden and Morgan Adams both finished with 14 points. Harden added in five assists and Adams grabbed five rebounds. Kiara Bomboy made four three pointers in the first half and finished with 12 points. Sydney Hoffman finished with a game-high 11 rebounds and added four assists. The Falcons shot 47.5% from the field and 42.9% from behind the arc. The Aggies shot 32.1% from the field but shot 42.9% from three.
