GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah men's basketball team stormed past visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University, 86-57, on Jordan Court at Hitchcock Arena on Thursday evening. The Falcons had three different players record double-digits scoring as
Evan Parker led the way with 13 points. The win improved Messiah's overall record to 2-4 on the 2023-2024 season.
Cole Fisher and
Jack Ramsey each recorded 12 points as 11 different Falcons notched field goals in the win. Overall, the Falcons shot an impressive 50.9% (28-55), and outscored the Gators 51-31 in the second to claim the surging victory.
Messiah never trailed in the contest, opening up the scoring with a Parker layup just 17 ticks into the contest. The Falcons converted seven of its first 12 field goal attempts and opened up a five-point advantage (15-10) in the first 10 minutes of the first half. In the final 10 minutes of the half, Parker notched nine points as Ramsey (4),
Ethan Johnson (3),
Christian Jackson (2),
Bryce Coletti (2) all contributed points.
Messiah shot 4-of-10 from beyond the arc in the first half and scored 24 points off turnovers. At the end of the first half, the Falcons led the Gators, 35-26.
The Falcons had a thunderous second half offensively, scoring 51 points to earn the runaway victory. A 27-12 scoring run from 14:58-6:44 separated the two sides as Messiah notched seven of its 10 field goal attempts. The Falcons had an impressive eight players contribute points during the scoring run, led by Coletti and Johnson, who each scored six points.
Johnny McBride registered two blocked shots while Fisher recorded four steals in the win.

Messiah (2-4) hosts Shenandoah University next Monday, Dec. 4th, for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off in Grantham, Pa.
