ANNVILLE, Pa. – On Thursday morning, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth released their 2023 Women's Soccer All-MAC Commonwealth Major Awards and All-Conference teams.
Jenna Skurcenski led the Falcons eight All-MAC Commonwealth selections with the MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year honor.
Scott Frey was also named MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year.
Along with winning the Defensive Player of the Year,
Jenna Skurcenski was named to the first team with
Kristina Akselsen and
Hannah Adair.
Brittany Laird,
Julia Martin,
Bailie Dull, and
Thea Neimond were named to the second team. Also,
Tahlia Lloyd was selected to the Honorable Mention team.
Jenna Skurcenski was named the ninth Defensive Player of the Year in Falcons history and earned a spot on the MAC Commonwealth First Team. Skurcenski was the leader of the Falcons dominant defense that allowed only eight goals throughout the entire season. Skurcenski started all 19 games this season on the back line for the Falcons.
The 2022 MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year,
Kristina Akselsen earned first-team honors for the third time in her career. Akselsen led the Falcons midfield both on the offensive and defensive end. On the offensive end, Akselsen finished with 15 points on six goals and three assists.
Hannah Adair earned a spot on the first team as the leader of the Falcons forward line during the season. Adair finished with 23 points on 10 goals and 3 assists. Adair has finished the season strong with a point in all the Falcons last eight games.
Brittany Laird was named to the second team after an impressive first year as a Falcon. Laird finished second on the team with 18 points on eight goals and two assists. Laird's top scoring game was on Oct. 3 against DeSales with a hat-trick.
The 2022 First Team All-MAC Commonwealth honoree,
Julia Martin earned a spot on the second team in 2023. The speedy defensive midfielder had a stellar season tallying 17 points on six goals and five assists.
Bailie Dull was selected to the second team after a great season on the Falcons back line. Dull started in every game for the Falcons and recorded one goal.
Thea Neimond was another Falcons defender that earned second team honors. Neimond also started all 19 games for the Falcons and tallied one assist.
Tahlia Lloyd was named to the Honorable Mention team after a great season in the midfield for the Falcons. Llyod finished the season with five goals and an assist, while starting all 19 games for the Falcons.
Scott Frey earned MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year for leading the Falcons to a perfect 7-0 record in conference play. Along with Frey, the coaching staff of
Todd Balsbaugh,
Holly Hoy,
Lydia Watkins,
Nikki Murren, and
Megan Owens helped the Falcons achieve a 17-2 record on the 2023 season. It is the eighth time that Frey has earned Coach of the Year honors.
