GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University women's basketball team fell to the DeSales University Bulldogs 64-46 on Wednesday night. The Falcons trailed the Bulldogs by six entering the half, and by 10 at the end of the third quarter, but two runs by DeSales in the fourth quarter downed the Falcons.
Reese Harden led the Falcons with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Morgan Adams added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Fredericksburg, Va. to take on the Eagles of Mary Washington University on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
First Quarter
DeSales opened the first quarter with an 8-2 run that ran for the first five minutes. A
Chloe Milanesi free throw ended the run and then
Reese Harden made a jumper to trade baskets to put the score at 11-5 with 4:39 remaining in the quarter. The Bulldogs then went on another 8-2 run that was cut by a
Charlotte Milanesi layup to end the quarter with the Bulldogs leading 19-9.
Second Quarter
The two teams opened the first five minutes of the quarter trading baskets with
Morgan Adams and
Reese Harden each scoring for the Falcons. After some back-and-forth play the Falcons went on an 8-0 run that was started by a
Morgan Adams jumper and ended with a
Reese Harden basket to put the Falcons within three with a 1:26 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs though would end the run with a three-pointer to close the half up 30-24.
Third Quarter
The two teams each scored six points in the first four minutes with
Chloe Milanesi,
Morgan Adams, and
Reese Harden each scoring for the Falcons to keep it a six-point game with 6 minutes remaining in the quarter.
Charlotte Milanesi made a layup, but then the Bulldogs answered with a quick 6-0 run to give them a 42-32 lead with three minutes remaining in the quarter.
Morgan Adams hit a turnaround jumper with three minutes remaining and DeSales hit two free throws to put the score at 44-34 entering the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
DeSales started the final quarter strong with a quick 8-2 run in the first three minutes to jump to a 16-point lead.
Reese Harden hit a jumper to cut the run, but again the Bulldogs continued to add on with a 10-2 run that went until another
Reese Harden jumper was made with three minutes remaining in the game. The two teams traded baskets to close out the game to put the final score at 64-46.

Reese Harden led the Falcons with 16 points. Harden also added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Morgan Adams finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Charlotte Milanesi added nine points, three assists, and three steals.
Kiara Bomboy also added five rebounds. The Falcons shot 42 percent from the field and shot 14.3 percent from behind the arc. The Bulldogs shot 41.9 percent from the field and shot 33.3 percent from three.
