CARLISLE, PA. - The Messiah Men's basketball team traveled to Dickinson College for a match up against the Red Devils. The Falcons fell 71-63 in a close game on the road.
Cole Fisher led the Falcons with 22 points and three steals, while
Caleb Lyles added nine points and three rebounds in the loss.
The Falcons Fall to 2-6 overall as they head to Puerto Rico for a two-game road trip.
First Half Action
The Red Devils got it going early, jumping to a quick 10-5 lead. However, Falcons
Bryce Coletti, and
Cole Fisher would sink baskets to tie the game at 10-10. Unfortunately for the Falcons, Dickinson would continue to find the bottom of the net as they opened a 27-13 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining in the half. The Falcons would go on a 11-5 run, with baskets from
Caleb Lyles,
Johnny McBride,
Jack Ramsey, and Coletti to cut the Red Devils lead to 32-24. Dickinson ended the half scoring five out of the last seven to take a 37-26 lead at half.
A Tight Second Half
The Falcons began the second half strong, taking advantage of a 13-6 run cutting the Red Devils lead to 43-39. Messiah received strong contributions from Ramsey Fisher, Coletti, and
Christian Jackson. Dickinson continued to stay composed, scoring baskets despite the Falcons pressure with five minutes remaining Messiah trailed 59-47. Through the next three minutes the game looked out of reach as the Red Devils extended their lead to 65-54 with 2:34 remaining. However, the Falcons did not go away continuing the cause havoc defensively and getting easy baskets cutting the lead to 65-59 with 1:16 on the clock. Unfortunately, the Red Devils were great from the charity stripe going 6-6 in the final minute as they defeated the Falcons 71-63.
What's Up Next
The Falcons will be back in action December 18-19 in the Puerto Rico Tournament. Messiah will face St. Mary's College of Maryland in game one.
