Men's Track and Field Turns in Solid Performances at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Messiah men's track and field team traveled to the Garrett Sports Complex Field House for the Susquehanna Tune-Up on Saturday. The Falcons earned a number of Top-Ten finishes and had several qualifying performances for next weekend's MAC championship at Alvernia University.
 
Highlighting the top-ten finishes of the afternoon were John Steele and Landon Kerr claiming third and fourth place respectively in the Triple Jump. Steele ended the day with a mark of 12.66 meters while Kerr reached a distance of 12.37 meters.
 
Kerr also competed in the High Jump where he earned an indoor personal best of 1.76 meters, qualifying him for the championship meet as well as earning him a seventh-place finish. Derek Heisey finished third after jumping a height of 1.81 meters.
 
Gavin Dunkerton finished with a mark of 10.83 meters in the Shot Put. Ryan O'Donnell's final mark of 10.19 meters tied his season best.
 
Dunkerton earned a lifetime best mark of 5.57 meters in the Long Jump. Zach French finished fifth in the event with a fine mark of 6.37 meters.
 
Messiah added three Top-Ten finished in the 5000 Meter. Kyle Costello highlighted the efforts of a trio of Falcons, earning third with a time of 16:14.86. Costello's time earned him a spot at the championship meet. Jonathan Wyrick (sixth, 16:37.58) and Lance Kauffman (seventh, 16:50.66) also ran well.
 
In the 60 Meter Hurdles. John Steele earned fifth place with a season-best time of 8.94. Joshua Horst finished with a lifetime PR and MAC qualifying time of 9.59.
 
Four Falcons competed in the 60 Meter Dash with Zach Mayro leading the way. Mayro (7.45), Zach French (7.56), Joshua Horst (7.62), and Josiah Provan (7.82) all ran well. Provan's time was a season-best and tied his lifetime PR.
 
The 200 Meter also had four Falcon competitors. Derek Heisey (24.25), Aedan Wilkinson (24.75), Joshua Horst (25.53), and Adam Handwerk (27.02) all competed for Messiah. Wilkinson ran a season-best and Handwerk ran a lifetime PR.
 
In the Mile, Zeke Colyer ran a lifetime PR and MAC qualifying time of 4:33.45 while earning a sixth-place finish. Ray Truex ran a season-best, finishing in 4:53.55.
 
Adam Hostetler ran a lifetime PR in the 400 Meter, finishing in a time of 55.03. Connor Daudt was close behind, crossing the line in a time of 55.30.
 
Messiah earned two Top-Ten finishes in the 3000 Meter, with Tyler Billet (9:36.42) and Jonathan Wyrick (9:43.04) earning seventh and eighth respectively. Wyrick's time was a lifetime best. Sam Rasinske ran a season-best, crossing the line in 10:27.70.
 
 
Nathan Kopp finished 13th in a field of 55 runners in the 800 Meter. His time of 2:04.38 was a lifetime best. Four Falcons crossed the line within two seconds of each other. Jack Daudt (2:07.89), Nathaniel Coggins (2:08.21), Sean Baxter (2:08.61), and Connor Daudt (2:09.07) all turned in strong performances. Liam McGovern earned a lifetime PR with a time of 2:29.97.
 
Penn State Update
The Mile was a highlight of the Messiah's performances at Penn State Friday night. Five Falcons competed in the event and there were a number of lifetime PR and MAC qualifying times. Four of the individuals ran times that place them on the Indoor Top Ten List. The highlights are as follows.
 
    - Logan Horst- 4:16.12; Lifetime PR; #2
    - Louka Fetter- 4:18.22; Lifetime PR; #3; MAC
    - Andrew Hutchinson- 4:18.56; Lifetime PR; #5; MAC
    - Noah Calisti- 4:19.83; Lifetime PR; #7; MAC
    - Josiah Moyer- 4:25.64; Lifetime PR; MAC
 
Messiah also had three runners in the 800 Meter. John Condon earned a lifetime PR and is in seventh on the Indoor Top Ten List after running a time of 1:57.43. Josh Bauman ran a lifetime PR of 2:00.11 and Nathan Kimmel earned a season-best of 2:00.48.

The Falcons will travel to Alvernia University next Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th for the MAC Championships.
