GRANTHAM, Pa. - The No. 16 Messiah women's lacrosse program earned their first-ever victory over the Gettysburg Bullets, knocking off the No. 5 Bullets by a 10-6 final score. Messiah jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the opening quarter and cruised to the four-goal victory.
Ehryn Groothoff led Messiah with three goals in the contest.
Messiah moves to 2-0 on the young season and will be back in action next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Franklin & Marshall.

The Falcons opened up the first period with a barrage of goals to generate a 4-0 lead and would remain in command for the remainder of the game.
Emma Lytle kicked off the scoring just a minute into play maneuvering around defenders for the score.
Rachel Delate,
Jordan Lewicki and Halyley Lettinga tacked on the other first period goals for Messiah.
The Bullets answered in the second quarter but Messiah answered right back with goals from Delate and
Makenzie Schnur to make it a 6-1 game. The Falcons led 6-2 at the break.
The teams each scored four times in the second half, twice in each quarter.
Ehryn Groothoff added three of those second half goals as well as Lettinga, who added her second on the afternoon. The Falcons prevailed 10-6 over the No. 5 ranked Bullets, completing their first win against Gettysburg in program history.

As mentioned, this is Messiah's first-ever victory over the Gettysburg Bullets. The Bullets had won all 18 of the two team's previous meetings. The Falcons left little doubt on Wednesday afternoon. After taking the 4-0 lead, Messiah never led by less than three en route to the 10-6 victory.

The win puts the Falcons at 2-0 and will be in action a week from today when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. to face the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall. That game will be held on Mar. 1, at 4:00 p.m.
