READING, Pa. - The Messiah men's track and field team kicked off Day One of the Indoor MAC Championships at The Plex at Alvernia University on Friday afternoon. There were a number of point-scoring performances by the Falcons, highlighted by three of the top-five finishers in the 5000 Meter.
 
On the Track
Louka Fetter lead the way for Messiah in the 5000 Meter, finishing second in a time of 14:58.30. Also scoring for the Falcons were Andrew Hutchinson (fourth, 15:07.98) and Noah Calisti (fifth, 15:09.81). Joining them in the race were Josh Bauman (15:55.65), Kyle Costello (15:56.78), and Zeke Colyer (15:57.43).
 
An exciting event early in the day was the Distance Medley Relay. Messiah earned second place, finishing behind only DeSales. The team of Josiah Moyer, Adam Hostetler, John Condon, and Logan Horst combined for a time of 10:25.27. DeSales broke the 2019 Meet Record (10:24.11) finishing in a time of 10:16.99.
 
Zach Mayro is moving on to the Saturday final for the 60 Meter Dash. His time of 7.13 was a lifetime best and the seventh fastest of prelims to earn him the spot in finals.
 
John Steele crossed the line in a time of 8.87 in the 60 Meter Hurdles, finishing in 10th. Josh Horst ran a new lifetime best of 9.42.
 
The 4x200 Meter Relay team of Josh Horst, Nathan Kimmel, Nathan Kopp, and Sean Baxter finished in a time of 1:39.61.
 
In the Field
Two Falcons represented Messiah in the Long Jump. Zach French finished with a mark of 6.23 meters and Landon Kerr finished with a mark of 5.89 meters.
 
Josiah Zehr finished fourth in the Pole Vault with a final height of 4.00 meters.
 
Heptathlon
Two Falcons are competing in the two-day Heptathlon. Gavin Dunkerton sits in sixth place after the first four events with a combined score of 2238. Liam McGovern is in eighth place after day one with a combined score of 2085. Their event results are as follows.

Messiah is in third place after Day One with a team score of 29.5. Day Two of the Championship Meet will see the majority of events and kicks off at 11:00 am Saturday.
