NEW YORK CITY, N.Y.- The Messiah University Track and Field team traveled to the historic New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City Friday afternoon. The Falcons found themselves frequenting the top ten and many individuals set new personal records.
Messiah earned six top-ten finishes in the field events Friday afternoon. Highlighting those efforts was a second-place finish for
Zach French in the Long Jump Invite Flight. He earned his place with a jump of 6.51 meters. Competing in the Open Long Jump were
Landon Kerr (5.89) and
Noah Keitel (5.74).
Kerr finished in third place in the Open Triple Jump with a final mark of 12.29 meters.
John Steele finished with a mark of 12.54 meters to earn ninth place in the Triple Jump Invite Flight.
The Falcons finished fourth in both vertical jumps of the day.
Derek Heisey reached a height of 1.83 meters in the High Jump while
Josiah Zehr reached a height of 4.11 meters in the Pole Vault.
In the Shot Put,
Liam McGovern threw a personal best of 11.42 meters to earn ninth place.
Gavin Dunkerton also competed and threw 11.19 meters to earn 14th.
Steele (10th, 9.26) and Dunkerton (14th, 9.47, PR) represented Messiah in the 60 Meter Hurdles. In the 60 Meter Dash,
Joshua Horst ran a time of 7.69 and
Josiah Provan ran a personal best of 7.90.
The Falcons were represented by a pair of runners in both the 200 Meter and 400 Meter. Heisey completed the 200 Meter in 24.30 while Horst finished in a time of 25.26. In the 400 Meter,
Sean Baxter crossed the line in 55.06 and
Adam Hostetler was close behind in a time of 55.75.
Nathan Kimmel (2:03.75),
Nathan Kopp (2:05.78),
Nathaniel Coggins (2:08.46), and
Jack Daudt (2:08.89) all represented Messiah in the 800 Meter.
Logan Horst led the way for the Falcons in the Mile. His time of 4:21.75 earned him a third-place finish. Joining him was
John Condon (12th, 4:27.81, PR),
Josh Bauman (17th, 4:28.97, PR), and
Tyler Billet (4:46.06).
Messiah's success in the distance events this season continued Friday night. The Falcons earned three top-ten finishes in the 3000 Meter and three of the four runners reached new personal best times.
Louka Fetter (third, 8:36.44),
Andrew Hutchinson (eighth, 8:42.07, PR),
Noah Calisti (10th, 8:43.49, PR), and
Josiah Moyer (12th, 8:47.75, PR) competed well for Messiah.
Two teams represented Messiah in the 4x400 Meter Relay finishing within a second of each other. The team of Kopp, Condon, Hostetler, and Zehr (3:39.64) edged out the team of Coggins, Kimmel, Heisey, and Daudt (3:40.22) as they crossed the finish line.
