Three Fourth-Place Finishes Highlight Danny Curran

CHESTER, Pa.- The Messiah Track and Field team competed at Widener University for the Danny Curran Invitational on March 31st and April 1st. The Falcons continued to add Middle Atlantic Conference qualifying performances to the season's list thus far while achieving a number of top-ten finishes and new personal bests.

The Falcons will return to action when they travel to nearby York College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 5th for the York Twilight Meet.

Friday Night
Logan Horst ran a new personal best time in the 5,000 Meter, crossing the line in a time of 14:47.84 to earn fourth. Horst's time moves him from fourth to second in the Messiah Top Ten and earned him a MAC qualifying time. Josh Bauman dropped ten seconds off his previous best, crossing the line in 15:32.84. Josiah Moyer (15:29.16) and Zeke Colyer (15:51.14) also added MAC qualifying times in the event. In the 10,000 Meter Run, Messiah had seven runners compete and each ran a MAC qualifying time.

Louka Fetter ran a time of 31:08.48 in his 10,000 Meter debut to earn a ninth-place finish. That time puts him in second on the Messiah Top Ten list. Noah Calisti finished in 18th with a time of 31:38.63, moving him from eighth to seventh in the Top Ten. The remaining Falcons from the event are Kyle Costello (20th, 32:06.43), Lance Kauffman (34:11.07, personal best), Jonathan Wyrick (34:16.09, personal best), Andrew Hutchinson (34:37.94), and Tyler Billet (34:39.83).

Brendan Provan finished sixth in the Triple Jump with a final leap of 13.66 meters. John Steele improved on his season best with a final mark of 12.64.

In the Discus Throw, Hoyt Lechthaler improved his best mark and earned a place at MACs with a toss of 38.66 meters.

Saturday Results
The action continued on Saturday for Day Two of the Danny Curran Invitational. The day was highlighted by two fourth-place finishes on the track for Messiah.

On the Track
A pair of fourth place finished highlighted the track efforts on Saturday afternoon. Derek Heisey ran a season best time of 55.12 to earn fourth in the 400 Meter Hurdles. Joining him was Adam Hostetler who crossed the line in a time of 1:00.50.

Also earning fourth was John Condon in the 800 Meter. His final time of 1:55.27 set a new personal best and moved him into 10th on the Messiah Top Ten list, edging out the previous 10th-best time. Nathan Kopp (2:00.92) also ran a new personal best and a new MAC qualifying time. Nathan Kimmel crossed the line in a time of 2:01.48.

In the 1500 Meter Run, Zeke Colyer ran a new personal best of 4:12.28 and earned a place at MACs. Kimmel was just shy of qualifying, finishing in a time of 4:14.14.

Zach Mayro qualified for the 100 Meter Dash after finishing in a time of 11.43. Brendan Provan finished in a time of 11.98.

The Falcon's final MAC qualifying time of the day came in the 400 Meter. Aedan Wilkinson crossed the line in a time of 52.42 to meet the qualifying time. Connor Daudt finished in a time of 54.77.

In the 200 Meter Dash, Messiah was represented by a trio of Falcons. Wilkinson (23.62), Mayro (23.93), and Joshua Horst (24.27) all ran well.

The action on the track ended with the 4x400 Meter Relay where the team of Nathan Kopp, Derek Heisey, Connor Daudt, and John Condon combined for a time of 3:27.48, earning sixth.

In the Field
Two Falcons cleared season-best heights in the High Jump. Derek Heisey finished sixth on the day with a final height of 1.82 meters. Matthew Puleo finished 11th with a final height of 1.72 meters.

Josiah Zehr cleared his best height since the 2022 Outdoor MAC meet. Zehr finished ninth on the day after clearing a height of 4.25 meters.

Brendan Provan qualified for the Long Jump with a final distance of 6.09 meters.

In the Hammer Throw, Hoyt Lechthaler finished with a mark of 34.24 meters.
