GRANTHAM, PA. - The Messiah men's tennis team rolled past Eastern 9-0 this afternoon to begin their conference schedule. On the majority of courts, the Falcons were not challenged in the dominant showing.
The Falcons will host conference opponent York College on April 4 for a home match slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
On Criste Courts
The Falcons barely dropped any points on court three with the team of Niemi/Anderson winning 8-0 before Eastern challenged courts one and two doubles. Rose/Wilson prevailed in their match 8-4 while the team of Baker/Gingerich pulled out their match by a score of 8-5. Either way, the Falcons took a 3-0 lead into singles.
Chase Wilson and
Connor Rose started off singles with two strong wins with Wilson winning 6-1, 6-1 while Rose took his 6-2, 6-2. Eastern was able to pick up a set win on the day on court three but that was all it amounted to, as
Josh Gingerich was able to rally after a horrid second set to close out his match with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 win.
Messiah was able to easily win courts four, five and six, with
Michael Sell and
Michael Niemi each winning 6-1, 6-1.
Carl Anderson also closed his match out 6-0, 6-1.

The win takes the Falcons record to 4-5 and starts their conference record at 1-0. Messiah will host York College on April 4 for another conference tilt. That match will start at 3:30 PM and will be held at Criste Courts.
