GRANTHAM, Pa. - The No. 11 Messiah women's lacrosse team allowed the first goal of the evening against the Hood Blazers, but responded with 16-straight tallies to earn the 16-1 victory on Wednesday night. With the victory, Messiah moves to 13-2 on the season and improves to 6-1 in the conference.
Hope Flack and
Annalise Keitel each scored three goals in the lopsided Messiah victory.

With the win, Messiah claims the second seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament and will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Albright to take on the Lions at 12:00 p.m.

How It Happened
The Falcons won the opening draw control but an initial shot by
Hope Flack was saved by the Blazers' goalie. Hood proceeded to clear the ball and take a 1-0 lead off a score from Savannah Winpigler with an assist from Aby Burnette.

That was the end of Hood's offense on the day as the Falcons would score the next 16 goals of the contest to earn the 16-1 victory.
Hope Flack and
Emma Lytle scored within the next two minutes to give Messiah their first lead of the game at 2-1. Tallies from Flack,
Rachel Delate,
Grace Gormley,
Jordan Lewicki,
Hayley Lettinga, and Lytle followed throughout the rest of the period as the Falcons held an 8-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.

Messiah scored three more goals in the second with Lewicki,
Annalise Keitel, and Flack finding the back of the cage to get the clock running as the game turned to halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Messiah tacked on five goals in the fourth with Keitel scoring twice with Delate, Lytle, and
Makenzie Schnur also connecting on a goal.

In total, the Falcons outshot the Blazers, 37-3 and put 30 of their shots on goal against just two from Hood.

With the victory, Messiah improves to 13-2 on the season and 6-1 in the conference. They also locked up the second seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament that will take place next week. The Falcons will host the third seed on Wednesday at a time to be determined in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals.
