GRANTHAM, PA. - The Messiah men's lacrosse team clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Playoffs early next week, as they beat the Albright Lions 13-6 this afternoon.
Chad Teresky and
Max April led the team with three goals each.
Messiah will travel to Chester, Pa. to take on the Widener Pride in the MAC Commonwealth Play-In Game scheduled for early next week. That game will be held on May 1 at a time to be determined.
Action on Senior Day
The Falcons struck first with a goal from
Nate Jaloszynski to take an early 1-0 lead in the game. The goal from Jaloszynski was his first of the year as
Chad Teresky scored next as Messiah took a 2-0 lead with under ten minutes to go.
Outside of two goals from Albright, Messiah dominated the entire period, taking 14 shots to Albright's two, both of which found the back of the cage. Goals from
Zach Drake,
Aaron Shaw and Teresky rounded out the period as the Falcons took a 5-2 lead into the second quarter.
A couple more Falcons found their first goals of the season including
James Myers and
Ryan Fascetta as the lead blossomed to a 9-3 advantage with just over four minutes to go. That lead would stay at 9-3 at halftime.
The third quarter was a little quiet for the teams with only three total goals being scored.
Max April found the back of the net in addition to another goal from Shaw to take the game to 11-4 heading into the final stanza of action. April scored twice in the fourth as the lead stretched to nine with under seven to go. Two Albright goals later the Falcons closed out the game with a 13-6 win over the Lions.

Zach Drake,
James Myers and
Nate Jaloszynski all scored once in the game. Ferell added two assists as well. The Falcons out shot the Lions 45-24 in the contest and converted six more ground balls (36-30). Messiah also won 13 face offs to Albright's 10.

With the win, the regular season ends with an 11-6 mark and a 4-4 conference record. The 4-4 mark has earned them a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Play-In Game early next week where they will travel to Widener on May 1 at a time to be determined.
Just last Monday on April 24, Messiah traveled to Widener and loss 9-12 in their first matchup this season. Look for Messiah to rebound next week to have a shot to move on to the MAC Commonwealth Semifinals.
