Horst and Provan Lead the Way at York Twilight Meet

YORK, Pa.- The Messiah Track and Field team traveled to nearby York College of Pennsylvania to compete at the York Twilight Meet. The Falcons earned a number of Top Ten Finishes in a meet scattered with Division I and II competitors. Highlighting the efforts was a first-place finish in the 1500 and second-place finishes in the 400 Meter Hurdles and the Triple Jump.

In the Field
Hoyt Lechthaler improved his personal best in the Hammer throw again this week with a final distance of 38.60. That mark placed him ninth overall. In the Discus, Lechthaler finished with mark of 38.72, also a new personal best. Josiah Provan finished the event with a distance of 30.06.
 
In the Javelin throw, Matthew Puleo threw a season-best distance of 51.83 meters to earn the fourth-place finish.
 
Gavin Dunkerton threw a new personal best in the Shot Put. His final mark of 11.84 meters earned him 11th. Gordon Cahill also threw a new best at 9.06 meters.
 
Josiah Zehr earned a fourth-place finish in the Pole Vault with a final height of 4.25. Second- through fourth place all reached 4.25 and places were determined by attempts taken.
 
In the High Jump, Derek Heisey finished seventh with a final height of 1.85 meters for a new season best.
 
Brendan Provan leaped to a new personal best in the Triple Jump, finishing his series of jumps with a distance of 14.71 meters. He improved his mark with each attempt taken. He finished second overall, behind only a Division I jumper. The mark also moves him from sixth to fourth in the Messiah Top Ten. Noah Keitel jumped near his personal best and finished 10th with a mark of 12.82.
 
On the Track
Logan Horst led the way for the Falcons in the 1500 Meter, crossing the line in a time of 4:01.59 to earn the victory and a qualifying time for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship (MAC). Joining him in the top ten were Josiah Moyer (fourth, 4:05.67), Josh Bauman (seventh, 4:09.20), and Kyle Costello (eighth, 4:10.36). Zeke Colyer (14th, 4:12.14) and Andrew Hutchinson (15th, 4:13.40) also ran well. Bauman ran a new personal best and MAC qualifying time. Costello and Colyer also set new personal bests.
 
Brendan Provan secured a spot at the MACs with a time of 11.54 in the 100 Meter Dash. His time was seventh overall but second among Division III runners.
 
Messiah placed two in the Top Ten of the 400 Meter Hurdles. Derek Heisey was the top Division III finisher and second overall with a final time of 55.47. Adam Hostetler finished in seventh, crossing the line in a time of 59.09 to set a new personal best and earn a MAC qualifying time.
 
The Falcons added two more Top-Ten finishes in the 800 Meter Run with both runners in their debut for the event. Louka Fetter took second in a time of 1:57.74 while Noah Calisti finished fifth in a time of 1:59.17. Both finished in MAC qualifying times. Josiah Moyer added to the MAC qualifiers after finishing in a time of 2:00.48. Natham Kimmel ran a season-best 2:02.34.
 
In the 110 Meter Hurdles, John Steele finished fifth with a time of 16.50. Joshua Horst crossed the line in a time of 17.98.
 
John Condon led a pack of Falcons in the 400 Meter Dash, finishing seventh in a time of 51.89, earning a place at MACs while setting a new personal best. Aedan Wilkinson added a season-best time of 52.30 while Nathan Kopp added an MAC qualifying time, crossing the line in 52.60.
 
Messiah had five relay teams competing in the final two events of the day. In the 4x800 Relay, the A-Team of Josh Bauman, Zeke Colyer, Noah Calisti, and Louka Fetter took third, combining for a time of 8:10.84. The B-Team of Lance Kauffman, Jonathan Wyrick, Sam Rasinske, and Will Reeder took sixth after finishing in a time of 9:31.44.
 
The team of Derek Heisey, Aedan Wilkinson, Nathan Kopp, and John Condon combined for a time of 3:28.81 to take third in the 4x400 Meter Relay. Sean Baxter, Nathaniel Coggins, Jack Daudt, and Connor Daudt ran 3:37.81 to earn the sixth-place finish. Messiah's final team of Adam Hostetler, Nathan Kimmel, Josiah Zehr, and John Steele combined for a time of 3:47.64.
