Falcons Command Doubleheader, Score 12 Runs in Both Games

GRANTHAM, PA. - For the third consecutive game, the Messiah baseball team scored 12 runs in both wins against Albright this afternoon. In game one, the Falcons won 12-1 thanks to an 4-4 day at the plate from Evan Wagaman with two triples and a 2-3 day from Isaiah Parido including a homerun, his second in as many games.

In game two, it was a similar feeling as the Falcons jumped over the Lions early and never looked back, claiming game two 12-3. Josh Jacob went 2-4 with two RBIs while Ryan Friend went 2-2 and brought one run in. Wagaman also added a homerun in game two.

The Falcons were also efficient on the mound with JJ Zirkle going 5.2 IP with no earned runs and two strkeouts in game one. In game two, Josh Nielsen went 5.0 IP with no earned runs and three strikeouts.

The wins takes the Falcons record to 14-14-1 and their conference record to 10-8. Messiah will travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Johns Hopkins on Monday, April 10 at 6:00 PM.

GAME ONE
Messiah 12 - 1 Albright
The Falcons got an early 2-0 lead in the first off an Evan Wagaman triple that brought in two runners. Messiah would strike again in the third inning with five runs starting with a Josh Ammons single to bring in Dustin Isanogle. Isaiah Parido got into one sending a ball over the right field fence for a three-run home run, his second home run in as many days to increase the lead to 7-0.

Later in the fifth, a Ryan Friend single, a fielder's choice and a sac fly later and the Falcons had built up a 10-0 advantage heading to the sixth.

The Lions answered with one courtesy of a fielder's choice but that was all they would get on the day. The Falcons tacked on two more runs thanks to another Evan Wagaman triple and an Isaiah Parido double. The Falcons closed out game one with a 12-1 win.

JJ Zirkle earned the win, his second of the year to move to 2-3. Zirkle went five and two-thirds of an inning allowing three hits, one run, (none earned), three walks and two strikeouts.

GAME TWO
Messiah 12 - 3 Albright
After a double down the left field line from Dustin Isanogle to bring in a run in the first, the Falcons broke the game open in the second inning with five runs to take a strong 6-0 lead. Timely hitting from Ryan Friend, Jarrett Gordon as well as Sam Zercher all contributed in the five runs scored that inning.

Messiah tacked on three more runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a runaway 12-0 lead into the top of the fifth. A Josh Jacob double brought in two while a wild pitch brought in another. Evan Wagaman hit a solo jack to left field to make the game 10-0 before Jarrett Gordon had an RBI single to take the game to 11-0. An Isanogle sac fly made the game 12-0.

Albright would load the bases with no outs in the sixth and brought in three runs but that was all they could muster as the Falcons took game two of the double header 12-3.

Josh Nielsen pitched five innings and allowed two hits, four walks and added three punch outs in his first win of the season on the hill.
