ANNVILLE, Pa. – On Thursday morning, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced the winners of the 2022-23 MAC Institutional Sportsmanship Awards. Messiah received both the men's and women's honors based on voting conducted by their conference peers. The Falcons swept both the women's and men's awards for the 12th time in department history.
The MAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award was created to reward the outstanding overall sportsmanship at MAC institutions. The award began during the 2001-02 academic year. The award is voted on by the individual institutions' coaches, and is presented to a male and female athletic program in the MAC Commonwealth and MAC Freedom.
The Falcons have 29 total MAC Sportsmanship Awards, including 15 on the men's side and 14 on the women's side. Messiah has swept the men's and women's awards in each of the last seven years that the awards have been announced (no winners were announced in 2019-20 or 2020-21 due to the COVID pandemic).
On the MAC Freedom side, DeSales University was the men's winner while Delaware Valley earned the women's honors.
