St. DAVID, PA. – The Messiah Men's basketball team lost a hard-fought conference game against the Eastern Eagles. The Eagles second half offensive outburst took down the Falcons 75-51.
Caleb Lyles and
Cam Koscinski led the Falcons with 12 points each.
Messiah will be back in action Wednesday, Jan 24.
First Half
The Falcons got off to a hot start, grabbing an early 9-3 lead in the first four minutes.
Johnny McBride's two layups, and baskets from
Bryce Coletti and
Christian Jackson helped the Falcons to a fast start.
Caleb Lyles would catch fire to score seven out of the next nine points extending the Messiah lead to 16-9. The Falcons continued to hold off the Eagles offensively until the 9:08 mark, where Eastern would grab their first lead of the game at 23-22. Over the next seven minutes the Eagles would go on an 14-3 run entering the half up 35-25.
Second Half
Through the first three minutes of half number two the Eagles continued to pour it on offensively going on a 10-5 fun to take a 45-30 lead. Over the next five minutes the Falcons continued to fight but could not cut the deficit, trailing 54-38 with 11:22 on the clock. However, a 12-2 run from the Falcons led by Coletti, Lyles, and
Cam Koscinski cut the Eagles lead to 58-50. Unfortunately, the Falcons lost all momentum ending the game outscored 17-1 falling to the Eagles 75-51 on the road.
