FREDERICK, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University women's soccer team scored three first half goals to lead the Falcons to a 3-0 win over Hood College. The Falcons got off to a quick start with a
Addi Martin goal off of a rebound from a
Julia Martin shot to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons added to their lead in the 17th minute with a
Mia Libby header from
Bella Touzeau to push the Falcons lead to 2-0. Just two minutes later, the Falcons added another goal from a corner kick by
Bella Touzeau to
Julia Martin, that extended the Falcons lead to 3-0. The Falcons would have many changes to add to their lead in the final 71 minutes, but did not find the back of the net and the score remained 3-0.

First Half
The Falcons opened the game looking for an early goal. Off a corner kick,
Bella Touzeau sent the corner right in front of the box.
Julia Martin got a head on it and after a save by the Blazers' goalkeeper,
Addi Martin tapped in the rebound to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons continued to push their attack in the 17th minute.
Bella Touzeau sent a cross into the box and
Mia Libby sent a header across the goal line and into the back of the goal to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. The Falcons earned another corner kick just two minutes later.
Bella Touzeau found
Julia Martin again on the corner, but this time, Martin headed the ball past the Hood goalkeeper to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead. The Falcons added six more shots on goal before the half, led by three shots on goal from
Hannah Adair, but each shot was saved by the Blazers' goalkeeper to keep the score at 3-0 headed into the half.
Second Half
The Falcons looked to continue to add to their lead in the 48th minute.
Tahlia Lloyd sent a shot that the hood goalkeeper made a save on and then
Kristina Akselsen ripped a shot, but it went off the crossbar and the score remained 3-0. The Falcons had tons of chances with
Julia Martin,
Hannah Lashley,
Lexi Sarago,
Kaitlyn Laird,
Courtney Ayres,
Claire Vollmer, and
Alayna Williams all recording shots on goal, but each shot was saved by the Hood goalkeeper. The Blazers lone shot on goal was saved by
Izzy Pizzuto to hold onto the shutout for the Falcons.

Julia Martin led the Falcons with a goal and an assist.
Bella Touzeau tallied two assists.
Mia Libby and
Addi Martin each added a goal for the Falcons. The Falcons totaled 38 shots with 20 shots on goal. Hood totaled two shots with a shot on goal. Messiah earned all 15 corner kicks in the game.
Izzy Pizzuto earned her first career shutout win and totaled one save.
