No. 17 Stevens Bolts Past Falcons

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Messiah University men's lacrosse team dropped a matchup against the seventeenth-ranked Ducks of Stevens, 14-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons and Ducks defenses were strong to open the game with a 1-1 tie after the first quarter. The Ducks scored three in the second and the Falcons scored one, but the Falcons were only down 4-2 at the half. The Ducks dominated the second half scoring 10 unanswered goals with five in both the third and fourth quarter to earn the 14-2 win. Caden Green and Seth Libby scored the goals for the Falcons.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the Bridgewater College Eagles on Wednesday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m.
 
First Quarter
The Ducks got a goal to start the scoring with 11:38 remaining in the first quarter. The Falcons though answered back with a goal just a minute later by Caden Green from Tristan Lynch to tie the game at one. Both defenses dominated the rest of the first quarter with no goals given up.
 
Second Quarter
The Ducks once again opened the quarter with a goal to take a 2-1 lead with once again 11:38 remaining. This time the Falcons answered three minutes later with a Seth Libby goal from Bobby Berg to tie the game at two. In the final six minute, the Duck added two goals to take a 4-2 lead entering the half.
 
Third Quarter
The Ducks controlled the first five minutes and added two more goals to push their lead to 6-2. After some good defensive play from both sides, the Ducks scored three goals in the final four minutes to take a 9-2 lead going into the fourth quarter.
 
Fourth Quarter
The Ducks defense continued to hold off the Falcons offense and the Ducks offense scored five goals in the fourth to give Stevens a 14-2 win.
 
Stats
Caden Green and Seth Libby each scored a goal for the Falcons. Tristan Lynch and Bobby Berg each tallied an assist. David Gross led the Falcons with five caused turnovers and added two ground balls. Ben Antel went 5-of-15 from the Faceoff X and Tristan Lynch added three faceoff wins. Jourdain Algarin totaled 13 saves in the cage for the Falcons.
