GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University men's lacrosse team held off a late rally from the Mary Washington Eagles to win 13-12 on Saturday afternoon. On an afternoon where the rain came down the whole game, the Eagles got off to a hot start and got off to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. The Falcons scored three goals in the quarter and the Eagles added one more to give the Eagles a 6-3 lead after the first quarter. The Falcons then took over with a dominant second quarter outscoring the Eagles, 5-2, to tie the game at eight headed to halftime. The Falcons offense continued to roll and the Falcons defense was shut down in the third quarter to give the Falcons a 12-8 lead going into the final quarter. The Eagles and Falcons traded goals in the beginning of the fourth, but the Eagles scored three straight goals to make it a one-goal game with 3:31 remaining. The Falcons defense then locked up the Eagles offense and Messiah came away with the 13-12 win.
Chad Teresky led the Falcons with seven points on five goals and two assists.
Bobby Berg totaled four points with a hat trick and an assist.
Jourdain Algarin earned the win in the cage for the Falcons and made 12 saves.

First Quarter
The Eagles opened the game strong with a 5-0 run that ran for the first seven minutes of the game.
Chad Teresky broke the run with a goal to reduce the Eagles lead to four with 6:08 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles added another goal, but the Falcons ended the quarter strong with two straight goals from
Will Ehrhart to reduce the Eagles lead to 6-3 after the first quarter.
Second Quarter
The Falcons opened the second quarter strong with two goals from
Chad Teresky in the first five minutes to put Messiah within one with 9:46 remaining in the half. After four minutes of scoreless play,
Bobby Berg and
Michael Cook each scored goals to give the Falcons a 7-6 lead with 4:13 to play in the half. The Eagles scored a goal with two minutes remaining to tie the game at seven, but
Chad Teresky scored another goal to give the Falcons a one-goal lead with 32 seconds remaining. The Eagles responded quickly with another tying goal with 13 seconds remaining to put the score at 8-8 headed into the half.
Third Quarter
The Falcons opened the second-half strong with
Bobby Berg and
Chad Teresky scoring two quick goals to give the Falcons a 10-8 lead with 13:08 remaining in the third. The two defenses made it difficult for both offenses to find any space until four minutes remaining in the quarter.
Bobby Berg broke the scoreless streak to extend the Falcons lead to three.
Michael Cook would add a man-up goal with a 1:58 remaining in the fourth to push the Falcons lead to 12-8 headed into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
The Eagles started the quarter looking for some momentum to get back into the game and would score a goal to reduce the Falcons lead to three with 13:48 remaining in the game. The Falcons responded just a minute later with a
Mike McKnelly goal from
RJ Mellor to push the Falcons lead back to four. The Eagles then responded with a three-goal run to cut the Falcons lead to one with 3:31 remaining in the game. The Falcons defense tightened up for the rest of the game and after an offsides call with less than a minute remaining in the game, the Falcons ran out the clock and earned a hard fought 13-12 win.
