Falcons Move Up In The Conference After Beating Spartans

GRANTHAM, PA. - The Messiah men's tennis team took down cross town rival York College of Pa 7-2. The Falcons got off to a great start winning all three doubles courts, and capped it off by winning four out of six courts in singles play. 

Messiah will look to keep the win streak going when they travel to Hood College Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened:
Doubles:
Doubles courts proved to be the difference today, as the Falcons took all three in route to their match victory. Luke Risser /Eli Noll got the day started with a court three 8-5 win. Michael Niemi / Carl Anderson fended off their opponents on court two for a 8-6 win. Last but not least, court one the most intense match of the day saw Chase Wilson / Timothy Sheaffer pull out the 8-7 victory. 

Singles:
Heading into singles with a 3-0 advantage, the Falcons found themselves needing to win just two courts to secure the match. Put together four impressive victories. Michael Niemi finished first on court three with a quick 6-4, 6-2 win. Chase Wilson followed him up with a 6-4, 6-2 win of his own on court one extending their lead to 5-0. After a court four loss, Luke Risser would secure the Falcons win on court five with a pair of 6-2, 6-2 set wins. Elijah Noll wrapped up the day in a tie breaker set winning 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) over his opponent.

The Falcons will be on the road Wednesday, April. 24th against Hood College at 3:30p.m.
