GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University men's lacrosse team used a dominating effort to defeat the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University, 14-2 on Wednesday night. The Falcons started strong with five straight goals to take a 5-0 lead heading into the second quarter. The Falcons then scored three goals in the second quarter to take an 8-0 lead into the half. The Falcons outscored the Golden Wolves 6-2 in the second half to win 14-2 and clinch the third seed in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
Bobby Berg led the Falcons with seven points on four goals and three assists.
Chad Teresky finished with six assists.

First Quarter
After a few minutes of scoreless play, the Falcons offense exploded for three goals in 36 seconds with
Mike McKnelly starting the run with a goal at 11:48 and
Bobby Berg scoring the third with 11:12 remaining in the first. Two minutes later the Falcons scored two more quick goals with
Jesse Lynch and
Mike McKnelly scoring for the Falcons to give them a 5-0 lead with 9:12 remaining. Both defenses shut down the opposing offenses for the remainder of the quarter to give the Falcons a five-goal lead.
Second Quarter
Both defenses continued to shut down the offenses until the final two minutes. The Falcons scored three goals in the final two minutes, highlighted by a
Chris Esslinger goal from
Chad Teresky to give the Falcons an 8-0 lead at the half.
Third Quarter
The Falcons continued to put the pressure on the Golden Wolves with two goals in the first five minutes of the third with goals from
Michael Cook and
Bobby Berg. The Falcons then ended the third with three more goals with the run of goals starting with a goal from
Bobby Berg from
Nate Liu and a
Michael Cook goal from Berg to push the Falcons lead to 13-0 headed into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter
In the first couple minutes,
Michael Cook scored his third goal of the game from
Chad Teresky to give the Falcons a 14-0 lead with 12:31 remaining in the game. The Golden Wolves scored the final two goals to put the final score at 14-2.
