GRANTHAM, PA. – The Messiah men's tennis team put together their first win on Criste Court by defeating Albright College 7-2. The Falcons opened the day by taking 2-1 doubles lead and finished it off by winning the first three courts on singles securing the home win.
Messiah will be back in action Apr. 9 against the University of Scranton.
Doubles
Court Two was the first to finish for the Falcons as
Michael Niemi and
Carl Anderson dominated their opponents cruising to an 8-0 victory.
Chase Wilson and
Timothy Sheaffer would take court one by score of 8-5 to give Messiah the 2-0 match advantage. Court three would be the lone loss for the Falcons with
Elijah Noll and
Luke Risser falling in a tie breaker 8-7 (8).
Singles
Timothy Sheaffer got things rolling for the Falcons taking down his opponent first on court two by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
Michael Niemi would follow up his teammate with an 6-2, 6-3 court three win. Lastly
Chase Wilson secured the Falcon victory after defeating his opponent 6-2,6-2 on court one.
The win in hand already,
Carl Anderson,
Luke Risser, and
Elijah Noll all looked to pick up their own win on their courts. Anderson would come up just short against his opponent with each taking a set from each other 6-4, 1-6. Heading into a superset, Anderson would lose 10-5.
Luke Risser picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win on court five, and
Elijah Noll closed it out with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court six.
