GRANTHAM, PA. – The Messiah women's team suffered a crushing 5-4 defeat at home to Albright College. The Falcons found themselves trailing 2-1 through doubles action and couldn't recover despite tying 3-3 on singles courts.
Messiah will look to bounce back against Stevenson University Saturday April 13
th.
How It Happened:
Doubles:
Bella Heckman and
Kasi Conjack suffered an 8-2 loss to begin doubles play on court one. However,
Kiara Bomboy and
Jocelyn Valdez responded with an 8-6 court three win.
Rebekah Sheaffer and
Kylie Walker Faught hard to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead heading into doubles but would drop court two in a tie breaker 8-7 (7-5).
Singles:
Trailing 2-1 the Falcons needed to string some wins together.
Kasi Conjack would drop court one 6-2, 6-1 giving the Lions an 3-1 match advantage.
Kylie Walker responded with a court two win of her own, taking down her opponent in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
Kiara Bomboy picked up a court three win 6-1, 6-3 to tie the overall match up at 3-3. However, a court four win from Albright and a court six win gave the Lions the road victory.
Jocelyn Valdez took down her opponent 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 but it was not enough to give the Falcons the win.
