CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Messiah baseball team keeps rolling along, this time cruising to a 15-3 victory over the Wilson Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Wilson took a 3-2 lead after one inning. Messiah responded with 13-unanswered runs, scoring in seven of their nine trips to the plate to claim their 11th-straight victory.
Â
Four different Falcons hammered home runs in the victory with
Joshua Ammons,
Dylan Beard,
Isaiah Parido, and
David Martinez all leaving the yard for the Falcons.
Â
Messiah moves to 22-6 with the victory and will be back in action on Friday when they head to York to take on the Spartans at 3:30 p.m., kicking off a three-game conference series.
Â
How It Happened
The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a solo home run from
Joshua Ammons and an RBI single from
Dustin Isanogle in the top of the first. That lead quickly disappeared after a four-hit, three-run inning in the bottom of the frame for the Phoenix. After the busy first frame, Wilson took a 3-2 into the second.
Â
Messiah quickly countered with a
Dylan Beard solo home run leading off the top of the second to tie the game at 3-3. More runs would come for the Falcons in the third with
Luke Ott doubling down the line and bases loaded walks to
Nick Moyer and
Isaiah Parido. The result was a 6-3 Messiah advantage after three stanzas.
Â
The Falcons broke the game open in the top of the fifth with a five-run frame that featured four-straight batters driving home runs. A two-run single from
Joshua Ammons drove home the first two before
Evan Wagaman doubled down the line to bring home Ammons.
Dustin Isanogle brought home a run with a ground out and
Luke Ott executed a squeeze bunt that resulted in a single and the Falcons' fifth run of the inning. When the dust settled, Messiah took an 11-3 lead.
Â
A solo homer from
Isaiah Parido in the sixth and a two-run shot from
David Martinez in the seventh gave the Falcons even more breathing room before a
Josh Jacob RBI single in the ninth gave the Falcons the final score of 15-3.
Â
On the mound,
Drew Dellinger ate up the bulk of the innings, tossing five scoreless innings in relief. Dellinger struck out four while allowing just two hits and walking one. For his efforts, Dellinger earned the first victory of his career.
