Mens Team Wins Tenth Conference Title in Program History

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah mens tennis team wins their first MAC Commonwealth Championship since 2018. The Falcons defeated Stevenson University 5-1 by taking two doubles courts and three singles in route to their 10th conference title. Messiah had been eliminated by the Mustangs in four of the past five conference tournaments before today. This was the Falcons third conference championship match in the six years.

Messiah will await their named called in the NCAA tournament.

How It Happened:
Doubles:
To begin the conference championship Michael Niemi / Carl Anderson gave the Falcons a court two win by a score of 8-2. On court three Luke Risser / Elijah Noll picked up a tightly contested 8-5 win. Despite Chase Wilson / Timothy Sheaffer fighting back in their match, Stevenson took court one to cut the match deficit at 2-1.

Singles:
Heading into the final singles play of conference action, Elijah Noll kicked things off with a two set 6-1, 6-2 court six win.

Tim Sheaffer would do the exact same, battling a hobbled Mustang player, Sheaffer went on to win 6-1, 6-2. Lastly, needing just one more court win to secure a MAC Commonwealth title Luke Risser gutted out a 6-4, 6-3 court five victory to crown the Falcons 2024 conference champions.

What's Up Next:
The Falcons will enter its fourth NCAA tournament in program history.
