Mens Tennis Earns Two Major Awards, five Named All-Conference

ANNVILLE, Pa. – On Thursday afternoon, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced the 2024 All-MAC Commonwealth teams. The Falcons earned five selections after a strong season that includes a MAC Commonwealth Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.  Timothy Sheaffer earned MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year along with first-team honors. Chase Wilson and Michael Niemi join him in MAC Commonwealth's first team. Luke Risser and Elijah Noll earned honorable mention team. Lastly, Coach John Arosell was named MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year. 
 
Timothy Sheaffer was named MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year as well as First Team honors. In his first season, Sheaffer finished with a record of 9-7 while going 5-1 in conference play. 
 
Chase Wilson earned himself First Team honors for the third straight season. Wilson continued the trend of strong play after completing the 2024 season with a record of 7-7 going 4-1 in conference action. 
 
Individually Chase Wilson and Timothy Sheaffer earned themselves first-team honors. However, as a duo on the court, the team finished the season with an overall record of 8-8, going 5-1 in conference. 
 
For the first time in Michael Niemis career, he would join his two teammates with First Team honors. To close out Niemis senior season, he had an overall record of 7-8, finishing undefeated in conference play at 5-0. 
 
Luke Rissers freshman campaign was capped with Honorable Mention honors. Risser ended the year with a record of 9-7, coming up big in conference play with a record of 5-0 in singles. 
 
Fellow freshman Elijah Noll begins his Messiah career with Honorable Mention honors. Along with Risser, Noll was a big contributor to the Falcons' late success going 10-2 on the year and 5-0 in conference play. 
 
Lastly, Jon Arosell's 13th career at the helm sees him win his 11th MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year honors and seventh time in Men's. Arosell led both the Men's and Women's teams to compete in the 2023-2024 MAC Commonwealth Championship match, with the Men's capturing its 10th title in program history.
