XML Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, PA. – The Messiah women's volleyball team split a pair of matches to begin the 2024 season. The Falcons fell in match one against Gallaudet University, 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-12). The Falcons then swept the Knights of Southern Virginia University (25-22, 25-23, 25-8).
Up next, the Falcons will be back in action tomorrow in the Gettysburg Classic against Bridgewater College at 11:00 a.m. and Franklin & Marshall College at 3:00 p.m.
Game One
The Falcons fought hard in match one competing in all five sets. The Bison managed to take set one 25-22. However, the Falcons bounced back with a 25-19 set two win. The teams would split the next two sets forcing a winner take all set five. The Falcons kept it close, but the Bison pulled away for a 15-12 win giving them the 3-2 five set victory.
Cassidy Dell led the Falcons with 11 kills and 11 assists. Sarah Hart added nine kills. Caitlin Lielbriedis also tallied 19 digs and six aces. Emma Swartz also tallied 22 assists.
Game Two
Messiah bounced back in a big way against Southern Virginia University in their final match of the day. The Falcons held off the Knights in sets one and two 25-22 and 25-23. Closing it out with a 25-8 win to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Makenzie Adams led the Falcons with 10 kills and added eight digs. Emma Swartz led the Falcons with 16 assists. Cassidy Dell added 11 assists. Katie Quesenberry and Chayney Barnhart each added eight kills.

The Falcons will be back in action tomorrow against Bridgewater College and Franklin & Marshall College. The first match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
