CARLISLE, PA. – Wednesday afternoon, the Messiah women's volleyball team traveled to Dickinson College for a match against the Red Devils. The Falcons managed to sweep the Red Devils (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) improving to 6-3 on the young season.

Up Next: The Falcons will welcome four teams to the Messiah Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Falcons will kick things off against Gettysburg College Friday, Sept. 20th at 7:00 p.m.

Set One:
As both teams got things started, neither gave an inch. It would be the Falcons though, who managed to grab an 11-9 lead heading into the midway point of the set. Chayney Barnhart, Cassidy Dell, and Sarah Hart all would contribute to the early Falcons lead. As the set continued the Falcons managed to hold on to a 17-14 advantage as the teams entered the midway mark of the set. Hart and Dell continued their dominance at the net as the Falcons held on to a 20-19 advantage. Messiah would finish strong closing out the set 25-20 thanks to key Makenzie Adam kills.

Set Two:
Messiah would again get off to a slow start, but taking advantage of multiple Red Devil errors allowed the Falcons to hold a 10-8 lead. Julia Bowen and Adams continue to supply points as the Falcons kept a hold of a 15-12 lead. As momentum picked up, Messiah continued to put points on the board, opening an 20-13 lead late in the set. Following kills from Bowen and Barnhart the Falcons capitalized off a late Red Devil error to take set two 25-15.

Set Three:
Now leading 2-0, the Falcons never took their foot off the gas. Caitlin Lielbriedis, Hart, Bowen, and Barnhart all wanted a piece of the scoring, as the Falcons took an early 10-7 advantage. Messiah continued to give the Red Devils trouble scoring at will and before they knew it trailed 17-13. As multiple Falcons contributed to the cause, Messiah held a late 22-17 lead. Dickinson tried to cut the deficit late, but Hart had other plans, scoring two of the final three points to sweep the Red Devils with a 25-20 set three win.
