Pagett’s Game-Winner Pushes Men’s Soccer Past Albright

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the Messiah University men's soccer team used a goal from Davis Pagett in the 87th minute to defeat the Lions of Albright College, 1-0. The Falcons controlled possession for most of the first half and put five shots on goal, but could not get a shot past the Albright goalkeeper and score remained tied at the break. The Falcons offense continued to pressure the Lions' defense throughout the second half and Davis Pagett scored the game-winner in the 87th minute from Patrick Lee to give the Falcons the 1-0 win.

First Half
The Falcons got an early opportunity to score with a Davis Pagett shot on goal in the fourth minute, but the Lions' goalkeeper made the save to keep the Falcons off the board. The Falcons kept the attack going with a shot on goal from Sam Phillips in the 12th minute and a shot on goal from Isaac Schmitke in the 13th minute, but each shot was saved to keep the game scoreless. After a couple of wide shots, the Falcons got another shot on goal in the 30th minute, but Pagett's second shot on goal of the half was once again saved. Both teams got one wide shot in the remaining time in the first half and the game remained scoreless headed into the break.
 
Second Half
The Falcons opened the second half strong with two on goal from Patrick Lee and Sam Phillips but shot was saved to keep the Falcons off the board. Continuing on the attack, Davis Pagett ripped two more shots on goal, but against the Lions' goalkeeper stood tall to keep the game scoreless in the 61st minute. The Falcons continued pushing the pace with six more shots on goal with the final chance coming from Matt Griffin in the 86th minute, but once against the Lions' goalkeeper kept the Falcons off the board. The Falcons continued to try and break the scoreless tie in the 87th minute. Patrick Lee sent a low ball into the box towards the right post. Davis Pagett then ripped a sharp angle into the back of the net to give the Falcons a late 1-0 lead. The Falcons did not allow a shot in the final couple minutes and earned the 1-0 win.

Davis Pagett scored the game-winner for the Falcons in the 87th minute. The Falcons totaled 29 shots with 15 shots on goal. The Lions tallied four shots with no shots on goal. The Falcons totaled nine corner kicks to the Lions' three. Kessler Forrest earned the win goal for the Falcons.
