GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the Messiah University men's soccer team used a seven-goal outburst to defeat the Blazers of Hood College, 7-1. The Falcons started the game strong with a quick goal from
Kyle Spodnik by
Jalen Keller to give the Falcons the lead in the sixth minute. In the 15th minute, Keller scored a goal of his own from
Patrick Lee to extend the Falcons lead to two. The Blazers answered back with a goal in the 37th minute to reduce the Falcons lead to one. The Falcons added another goal in the 42nd minute from
Elijah Perry to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead entering the break.
Sam Phillips added to the Falcons lead with a goal in the 63rd minute.
Jordan Gilman then score back-to-back goals to push the Falcons lead to 6-1 in the 78th minute.
Isaac Schmitke scored the final goal for the Falcons in the 79th minute to give the Falcons the 7-1 win.

First Half
The Falcons opened the game strong with a great chance in the sixth minute. After getting the ball just past midfield,
Grant Shreiner took a couple a dribbles, and sent a long ball into the box to
Jalen Keller. Keller then slotted a pass towards the middle of the box and
Kyle Spodnik ripped a one-timer to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons continued on the attack in the 15th minute.
Patrick Lee got the ball just outside the right side of the box and sent a low cross towards the back post.
Jalen Keller hit a one-timer off the cross into the top of the goal to push the Falcons lead to 2-0. The Blazers got on the board in the 37th minute to reduce the Falcons lead to 2-1. The Falcons offense continued to pressure the Blazers defense in the 42nd minute.
Jordan Gilman,
Ethan Gregory, and
Owen Resch combined for passes to move the ball into the attacking third. Resch then sent a pass into the box to
Elijah Perry. Perry made a couple of moves to create some space and ripped a shot, that snuck past the Blazers' goalkeeper, and into the back of the goal to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead at the half.
Second Half
The Falcons looked to gain more insurance in the 62nd minute.
Zach Buys ripped a shot on goal, but the shot went off the Blazers' goalkeeper and the right post. The ball stayed in front of the goal and
Sam Phillips tapped ball into the back of the goal to push the Falcons lead to three. The Falcons continued on the attack and added two straight goals from
Jordan Gilman to extend the Falcons lead to 6-1 in the 78th minute.
Isaac Schmitke scored the final goal for the Falcons in the 79th minute to give the Falcons the 7-1 win.
