Dominant Overall Effort Leads No. 4 Women’s Soccer to Seventh-Straight MAC Commonwealth Championship

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the fourth-ranked Messiah University women's soccer team won their seventh-straight MAC Commonwealth Championship with a 4-0 win over the Mustangs of Stevenson University. The Falcons opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a goal from Hannah Adair. The Falcons pushed their lead to 2-0 with Adair's second goal of the game from Bailie Dull, in the 27th minute. The Falcons extend their lead to three in the 52nd minute, with a goal from Addi Martin from Dull. The Falcons added one more tally in the 77th minute, with Adair's third goal of the game to complete the hat-trick to give the Falcons the 4-0 win.
 
With the MAC Commonwealth Championship, the Falcons earned an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA DIII women's soccer selection show is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10 on NCAA.com.  

First Half
The Falcons took control of possession from the opening kickoff and got a great chance in the 18th minute. Lexi Sarago started the play in the defensive end and quickly passed the ball to midfield to Brittany Laird. Laird and Hannah Adair connected on a quick pass in the midfield and then Adair sent a pass out to the left side of the field to Mia Libby. Libby's pass slowed down just outside of the box and Addi Martin sent a shot on goal that the goalkeeper saved, but the goalkeeper was well out of position. Adair then volleyed a ball into the open goal to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. After a pair of Falcons' shots were saved, the Falcons looked to extend their lead in the 27th minute. Bailie Dull got the ball just outside of the right corner of the box and sent a pass to the top of Hannah Adair. Adair sent a low shot on goal, that the Stevenson goalkeeper thought was wide, but the shot bounced off the left post and in the back of the goal to push the Falcons lead to 2-0. The Falcons added three shots on goal from Nikki Davis and a shot on from Hannah Lashley, but each shot was saved to keep the score at 2-0 entering the break.
 
Second Half
The Falcons opened the second half controlling possession and got a shot on goal from Alayna Williams and Mia Libby, but each shot was saved to keep the Mustangs within two in the 51st minute. The Falcons continued the pressure on the Mustangs defense and looked to add to their lead in the 52nd minute with a corner kick. Hannah Adair played the corner short to Bailie Dull at the far corner of the box. Dull then sent a ball to the back post and Addi Martin deflected the ball into the back of the goal to extend the Falcons lead to three. The Falcons scored their final tally in the 77th minute with Hannah Adair's third goal of the game to earn the hat-trick. The Falcons tallied a shot on goal from Brittany Laird, Morgan Graham, and Hannah Lashley, but each shot was saved to put the final score at 4-0.
 
Stats
Hannah Adair earned the MAC Commonwealth Tournament MVP after tallying a hat-trick. Addi Martin added a goal. Bailie Dull tallied two assists. The Falcons totaled 35 shots with 17 shots on goal. The Mustangs tallied four shots with one shot on goal. The Falcons earned nine corner kicks to Stevenson's one. Ava Wert earned the win in goal for the Falcons and made one save. Ellie Ockrin also earned time in goal for the Falcons.
