Softball Picks Up a Pair of 8-0 Wins Over Albright

READING, PA. – On Saturday evening, the Messiah Softball team swept the Lions of Albright College with a pair of 8-0 wins. The Falcons jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through the first two innings thanks to runs from Lucy Murphy and Brielle Rosario. Fallon Feaser was near perfect not allowing a single run, only surrendering two hits in the entire game. The Falcons tallied on three more runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to cap off the 8-0 win. In game two, despite the slow start through the first two innings for Messiah, the Falcons offense exploded in inning number three for five runs. Murphy, Allie Book, Ali Wagner, and Maggie Chinnadurai all tallied hits in the big inning. Chinnadurai was stellar once again in the circle, similar to her counterpart in Feaser also not surrendering a single run through seven innings, picking up the 8-0 win.

Up Next: The Falcons will take on Catholic University of America Thursday, March. 27 at 3:00 and 5:00p.m.

Game One:
Messiah 8 Albright 0

How It Happened:

The Falcons were able to jump on the Lions early grabbing a 2-0 lead after one inning of play. Hannah Dyer led the game off with a single, after a series of steals and errors, Dyer was able to score fast, while Lucy Murphy advanced to second. Allie Book was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, setting up a Brielle Rosario single to bring home Murphy after her advancement to third.

Following a quick three and out from Fallon Feaser, the Falcons came back up to the plate looking to cause more damage. Back-to-back singles from Ali Wagner and Jaden Keister put runners on the path with no outs. After Haylie Fenstermaker reached on a fielder's choice, one batter later a Double to right from Murphy expanded the Messiah lead to 4-0.

Over the next inning and a half, Feaser was strong in the circle not allowing a single run despite surrendering four hits over a two inning stretch. Messiah, however, would not take advantage until the fourth inning where they would pour on three more runs. Murphys single got things rolling, leading to three straight doubles from Feaser, Schlabach, and Book to give the Falcons the 7-0 lead.

Feaser finished one more inning with a dominant showing not allowing a single hit. As relief, Kelli Durbin was lights out not giving up a single hit in the final inning, striking out two. Messiah would tack on one more run in the fifth inning, giving the Falcons the 8-0 win.

Game Two
Messiah 8 Albright 0

How It Happened:
Both squads were quite in the first inning causing no scares from either side. It wouldn't be until a couple of walks to load the bases where a groundout from Maggie Chinnadurai scored one run for the Falcons.

After a quiet second inning, the Falcons exploded in the top of the third for five funs. Murphy continued her strong day with an RBI double scoring Dyer to begin the onslaught. Two batters later, Book would force an unearned run after a hit caused a fielding error. Following a Rosario single to advance Book to third, Ali Wagner punched one through the middle to score both Book and Rosario. One hit later and Wagner would be driven home to give Messiah the 6-0 lead.

Over the next four innings, Chinnadurai was dominant in the circle. She would not allow a single run, only giving up one hit. Messiah managed to drive home two more after hits from Book and Kylie Thompson leading to errors and a sacrifice fly to hand the Falcons the 8-0 lead and win.
