SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Messiah University Men's Track and Field team was in action on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26 at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. In addition to the Falcon performances at Paul Kaiser, a 4x400 Meter Relay team competed at the Penn Relays on Friday night.
Messiah will return to action for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships that will be held from Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3 at York College.
Penn Relays
The 4x400 Meter Relay team of
Sean Baxter,
Evan Sarkett,
Kaleb Kabakjian, and
Will Xenakis combined for a time of 3:21.79, earning fifth in the College Men's 4x400 Pop Haddleton MAC section.
On The Track
Highlighting the efforts on the track today was a first-place finish in the 1500 Meter Run for
Louka Fetter and a second-place finish in the 800 Meter Run for
John Condon. Fetter crossed the line in a time of 3:59.57 in the 1500 Meter Run while Condon was the top collegiate finisher with a time of 1:54.10 in the 800 Meter Run, finishing only behind a member of the Delaware Track Club.
In the short sprints, a trio of Falcons took to the track for the 100 Meter Dash before a pair returned for the 200 Meter Dash later in the day. Joshua Karyea was the first Falcon across the finish line in the 100 with a time of 11.32.
Dominic Lewis crossed in a time of 11.66 with
Austin Grove clocking an 11.91. In the 200 Meter Dash, Lewis crossed in a time of 24.48 with Grove finishing in a time of 24.79.
Sean Baxter led a trio of Falcons in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 50.75, finishing 15th out of 50 runners in a field filled with Division II competition. The next Falcon across the line was
Jed Colyer with a time of 54.78 with
Isaac Sobek rounding out the Falcon Finishers with a time of 57.14.
In addition to
John Condon's time of 1:54.10 to claim the top collegiate finishing time, three other Falcons competed in the 800 Meter Run.
Nathan Kimmel crossed the line in a time of 2:01.81 with
Eli McClymont (2:03.61), and
Aidan Pryor (2:06.00) also competing.
Louka Fetter was the top finisher in the 1500 Meter Run field of 61 with a time of 3:59.37. Finishing close behind were
Bradley Kreider (4:08.49) and
Kyle Costello (4:10.13) who finished 15th and 17th respectively.
Zeke Colyer clocked a time of 4:18.17 with
Jackson Kay crossing in a time of 4:18.74.
Running in the non-traditional 3000 Meter Run,
Nathan Seibert crossed the line in a time of 9:42.26.
Ryan Klemick led the Falcons in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 16:29.64.
Josiah Carnwath crossed in a time of 16:45.48 with
Lance Kauffman crossing in a time of 16:47.16.
Gus Rouland finished the Falcons outing with a 17:08.01.
The Multi athletes were in action in the 110 Meter Hurdles with
Gavin Dunkerton leading the way in a time of 16:54.
Drew Lebo was close behind with a time of 16.65 and
Jed Colyer crossed in a time of 18.42.
Matthew Rush was the lone Falcon in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase and crossed the line in a time of 10:47.07.
The relay team of Joshua Karyea,
Austin Grove,
Dominic Lewis, and
Isaac Sobek combined for a time of 45.65 in the 4x100 Meter Relay.
In The Field
Highlighting the efforts in the field for the Falcons were eighth and ninth place finishes by
Hoyt Lechthaler and
Jake Holland in the Discus Throw. Lechthaler finished with a mark of 45.51 meters while Holland registered a mark of 45.24 meters. The marks were eighth and ninth overall but third and fourth for Division III competitors.
Luke Bosma also competed in the Discus and finished with a mark of 42.71 meters.
In the Hammer Throw, it was again
Hoyt Lechthaler leading the way. His mark of 49.90 meters placed him fifth in the field of 35 and was the second furthest Division III mark registered at the meet.
Ted Lechthaler was the next Falcon with a toss of 36.22 meters while
Jake Holland registered a distance of 33.31 meters.
Ted Lechthaler finished with a mark of 13.82 meters in the Shot Put to lead a trio of Falcon throwers.
Nathan Bowman had a toss of 13.08 meters with
Anthony Russo finished with a distance of 11.60 meters.
The duo of
Luke Bosma and
Hoyt Lechthaler took to the runway for the Javelin Throw. Bosma finished with a distance of 47.12 meters and Lechthaler finished with a mark of 45.41 meters.
Multi athlete
Gavin Dunkerton took to the high jump where he cleared a height of 1.75 meters. In the Pole Vault, Dunkerton finished as the top Falcon with a clearance at 3.90 meters. Joshua Karyea,
Drew Lebo, and
Jed Colyer each cleared 3.60 meters in the Pole Vault.
In the horizontal jumps,
John Steele finished with a distance of 12.63 meters in the Triple Jump.
Jacob Cramer registered a mark of 6.31 meters in the Long Jump with Declan Hseih jumping 4.63 meters.
