FREDERICK, MD. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah Softball team used back-to-back four run innings to defeat Hood College 12-0 in five innings of play for game one of the doubleheader. The Falcons used a grand slam from
Fallon Feaser and collective hitting up and down the lineup for the shutout. In game two,
Maggie Chinnadurai similar to her counterpart also completed a five inning shutout. The Falcons would score in all five innings, with RBI's from
Fallon Feaser,
Hannah Dyer,
Allie Book,
Ali Wagner, and
Lucy Murphy to pick up the 9-0 win, improving to 8-0 in conference play.

Game One: Messiah 12 Hood 0
How it Happened:
The Falcons bats were up and alive early as
Lucy Murphy opened the game with a single. Two walks later,
Allie Book provided the first run of the day with a single to left field. Despite the bases being loaded, the Falcons were unable to add on to the 1-0 lead.
Fallon Feaser managed to get out the inning without letting up a run despite a lead off double.
Messiah came back to the plate and went immediately to work.
Ali Wagner and
Maggie Chinnadurai made their way on the base path setting up a
Hannah Dyer single to load the bases for Feaser. The Falcons starting pitcher would show her bat skills with a grand slam to left center giving Messiah the 5-0 lead. After a quick three up three down for the Blazers, the Falcons were looking to expand the lead in the third.
The bottom of the lineup caused more problems with
Jaden Keister reaching by a single. Wagner ended up reaching on a fielder's choice with Kiester out at second on the following at bat. Chinnadurai provided a run with a long double to center field, growing the lead to 6-0. Dyer and Murphy both reached base with strong plate appearances, setting up Feaser to continue her impressive day with a single to right center scoring all three runners.
After a quiet fourth inning from both teams, Dyer opened the fifth with a solo home run to right field. One batter later, Feaser roped a single up the middle putting
Kandice Schlabach at the plate to drive in a run. Two pitches later, Schlabach smashed a homerun to the farthest part of the field giving Messiah the 12-0 lead. Despite singles from
Maeve Hurley and
Brielle Rosario, the Falcons would go to the bottom of the fifth up by 12. Feaser closed out the game for Messiah completing the game one shutout.

Hannah Dyer all grabbed two hits. Four other Falcons picked up hits in the win. Feaser pitched a complete five inning shutout striking out four.
Game Two Messiah 9 Hood 0
The Falcons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with smart base running from
Hannah Dyer setting up a
Fallon Feaser RBI single.
Maggie Chinnadurai capped off the inning with three quick outs to head into the second with a lead.
Messiah's bats got it going in the second to take a commanding 4-0 lead.
Brielle Rosario led the inning off with a single up the middle. Followed by
Ali Wagner coming through with an RBI single to center field. Chinnadurai continued the inning with a double to center field to give Messiah the 3-0 lead. One batter later,
Lucy Murphy capped off the inning with a single down the left field line to enter the bottom half of the second up 4-0.
Following a quick three up three down for Chinnadurai striking out all three batters, the Falcons added to the lead in the top of the third.
Allie Book got the ball rolling with a single to left field. After an advancement on a wild pitch, and a walk from
Jaden Keister, Wagner would pick up her second RBI of the day with a single through the right side. Chinnadurai closed out the inning with another quick three outs.
Leading 5-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Falcons hoped to put the game out of reach and potentially put into effect the five-inning rule. The first two batters would go down for Messiah, however, a Feaser double kept the inning alive for the heart of the lineup. Following a
Kandice Schlabach walk, Book continued to do her job in the five hole and crush a double to center field giving Messiah a 7-0 lead.
Chinnadurai continued to be dominant into the fifth inning where Messiah put the final stamp on the game. After Chinnadurai worked her way on base with a single to left field, Dyer capped off the game with a two-run home run to left center giving Messiah the 9-0 advantage. Chinnadurai closed out the game with three straight groundouts, completing the Falcons second straight shutout performance.
