Falcons Topple Royals to Begin the 2025-26 Season

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Tennis team opened the fall slate of the 2025-26 season with a 7-0 sweep over the Scranton University Royals. The Falcons split the first two doubles courts before winning the final court to grab the 1-0 lead in the match. The Falcons then dominated in singles, winning all six courts to take the match 7-0.

Up next, the team travels to Carlisle, Pa. for a match against the Red Devils of Dickinson College on Saturday Sept. 20 at 12:00 p.m.
 
Doubles
On the third doubles court, Micah Batson / Gabe Dunbar started the day off with a 6-2 win. The Falcons then dropped the match on court two, with Timothy Sheaffer / Xane Whitesel falling 6-3. The Falcons then won the final doubles court, with Lance Wilson / Brady Hahn picking up the victory on court one, 6-2, and giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
Singles
Luke Risser started singles play off with a win in two sets, taking the court five 6-0, 6-2. Over on court two, Brady Hahn grabbed a win in two sets, winning his match 6-3, 6-2. The next match to finish was on court one, where Lance Wilson won his match in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. On Court six, Xane Whitesel battled through the first two sets, winning set one 6-3, and dropping the second 6-7. Whitesel would come out on top, winning the tiebreak 10-1. The next court to finish was court five, where Timothy Sheaffer won two close sets 7-6 (5), 7-5. The final court to finish was court three, where Elijah Noll won his match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
