Men’s Soccer Draws at Penn St. Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the Messiah University men's soccer team and the Lions of Penn St. Harrisburg tied, 1-1. The Falcons started the game strong with a goal from Ethan Gregory from Davis Pagett in the 22nd minute. Neither team scored a goal the rest of the first half and Messiah held onto a 1-0 lead headed into the break. After back-and-forth play for most the second half, the Lions tied the game in the 76th minute. Neither team could score in the final 14 minutes, and game ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College on Monday, Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m. on Shoemaker Field.

First Half
The Falcons opened the game strong with an early shot on goal from Davis Pagett, but the shot was saved, and game remained scoreless. The Falcons earned corner kick in the eighth minute and looked to break the scoreless tie. Caleb Daniels headed a shot that hit the post and then a shot from Grant Shreiner was saved to again hold off the Falcons early attack. The Falcons though broke through on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute. Davis Pagett sent a low cross in front of the goal and Ethan Gregory poked the ball into the back of the goal to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Lions got a pair of late shots on goal, but Kessler Forrest made two saves to keep the Falcons lead at 1-0 headed into the break.
 
Second Half
The Lions started the second half strong with a shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but Kessler Forrest once again stood tall and made the save to keep the Falcons lead. After back-and-forth play, the Lions scored a goal in the 76th minute to tie the game at one. Neither team got a shot on goal the rest of the way and the game ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw.

Ethan Gregory scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Davis Pagett tallied the assist. The Falcons totaled five shots with four shots on goal. The Lions tallied seven shots with four shots on goal.
