GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday evening, the Messiah University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup against the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington, 2-0. The Eagles got on the board in the 22nd minute with a goal to take a 1-0 lead into the break. The Eagles added another goal in the 60th minute to extend their lead to 2-0. The Falcons had many chances throughout the game but could not find the back of the goal and the Eagles earned the 2-0 win.

First Half
After the Falcons started the five minutes of the game with possession, the Eagles went on the attack. The Eagles got two shots on goal, but
Kessler Forrest made a pair of saves and the game remained scoreless. After the second save, the Eagles sent a long shot from outside the box and went into the top left corner to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Falcons got a great chance to tie the game in the 31st minute.
Sam Phillips ripped a volley shot towards the goal, but the shot rang off the cross bar to prevent a Falcons goal and keep the Eagles lead at 1-0 headed into the half.
Second Half
The Eagles started the second half strong with a goal in the 60th minute to take a 2-0 lead. After back-and-forth play throughout most of the rest of the second half, the Falcons looked for a late comeback attempt.
Sam Phillips ripped a shot towards goal, but the shot just went wide of the bottom right corner, and the Eagles earned the 2-0 win.
Stats
The Falcons totaled 10 shots with no shots on goal. The Eagles tallied 12 shots with four shots on goal. The Falcons earned 10 corner kicks to the Eagles six.
Kessler Forrest earned the start in goal for the Falcons and made two saves.
