READING, Pa. – No. 15 Messiah Women's Lacrosse traveled to Reading, Pa. this afternoon for a MAC Commonwealth matchup against the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University, taking down the Golden Wolves, 20-6. The Falcons jumped out toa big lead early, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter, taking an 8-1 lead into the second. The Falcons and Golden Wolves traded goals through the first half of the second quarter, with Messiah holding a 10-3 lead. The Falcons defense would shut down Alvernia the rest of the half, while adding two more goals to take a 12-3 lead into the half. Messiah came out of the half strong, scoring three goals straight in the third quarter to take a 15-3 lead, but the Golden Wolves ended the quarter with two goals to make it 15-5. Alvernia added a goal quickly to start the fourth to make it 15-6, but that would be the last goal Messiah's defense allowed, while the offense tacked on five more goals to win 20-6.
Annalise Keitel had six goals and two assists.
Grace Pettitt had one goal and eight assists.
Hayley Lettinga and
Hannah Gawne both added four goals.

First Quarter
Hayley Lettinga put a shot on goal to force an early save from the Golden Wolves goalie. The Falcons weren't kept off the board long however, with
Annalise Keitel scoring a man-up goal to give Messiah the lead at the 12:31 mark. After Messiah won the draw control, Keitel added her second goal just thirty seconds later, with
Grace Pettitt picking up the assist.
Hannah Gawne added a third goal for the Falcons just under two minutes later to make it 3-0, with
Grace Pettitt picking up another assist. Just 40 seconds later,
Annalise Keitel scored her third goal of the game at the 10:00 minute mark to make it 4-0. One minute later,
Hayley Lettinga got and the board to make it 5-0. After the draw control,
Abby Welchans sent a pass to Lettinga who slotted the ball into the net for her second goal in 15 seconds at 8:44.
Annalise Keitel added her fourth of the game three minutes later, and
Hannah Gawne scored her second on a free-position attempt at the 4:10 mark to make it 8-0. Alvernia got on the board in the final 10 seconds of the quarter to make it 8-1.
Second Quarter
Hannah Gawne got the Falcons back on the board just over 30 seconds into the quarter to make it 9-1. Three minutes later,
Hayley Lettinga got her third goal of the game which was assisted by
Annalise Keitel at the 10:57 mark. Over the next few minutes, Alvernia picked up some momentum, scoring twice to make it 10-3 with 8:15 to play.
Annalise Keitel tacked on another goal for Messiah at the 5:28 mark, assisted by
Grace Pettitt. Pettitt then assisted another goal one minute later, this time assisting
Dani Sauder for her first goal of the game to make it 12-3. Messiah got another few good looks in the quarter, but didn't add any more goals, taking a 12-3 lead into the half.
Third Quarter
The Falcons picked up right where they left off to start the third quarter, with
Abby Welchans scoring off a
Grace Pettitt assist just over a minute into the quarter.
Hayley Lettinga added another goal a few moments later to make it 14-3, Messiah. After a scoreless stretch,
Addyson Wagman got on the board with her first goal of the season, with
Dani Sauder providing the assist. The Golden Wolves added two goals to end the quarter, with the Falcons taking a 15-5 lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Alvernia kept up their momentum from the end of the third quarter, quickly scoring in the fourth to make it 15-6.
Annalise Keitel got the Falcons on the board in the quarter at the 11:31 mark, with
Grace Pettitt providing another assist.
Dani Sauder got her second goal of the game moments later, and
Grace Pettitt added a goal on a free-position attempt to make it 18-6 with 7:33 to play.
Hannah Gawne also scored on a free-position attempt just under two minutes later, and
Rachel Marshall finished the scoring with a goal on a free-position attempt with 3:30 to play, helping Messiah secure the 20-6 win.
